Doctors Behind the Care

Dr. Swenson, DVM

Dr. Swenson has been serving the Tucson community as a veterinarian since graduating with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2007, following her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience working in both emergency clinics and larger general practice hospitals throughout Tucson.

As corporations increasingly acquire pet clinics, Dr. Swenson remains a strong advocate for independently owned practices, believing they provide a more personal touch and a higher level of care for pets and their families.

Dr. Swenson also feels privileged to collaborate with a team of exceptionally skilled and compassionate technicians and assistants who share her commitment to animal health and well-being.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Swenson enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their lively household of pets. She loves hiking in the beautiful Arizona outdoors and stays active by playing in a recreational soccer league.

We are proud to have Dr. Swenson leading our team and providing compassionate, expert care to the pets of Tucson.

Dr. Swenson believes deeply in giving back, and she proudly supports World Vets and Heifer International as part of her commitment to strengthening communities—both here at home and around the world. Below is a video of Dr. Swenson volunteering with World Vets.

Dr. Carpenter, DVM

Dr. Carpenter’s path to becoming a veterinarian began as a child—it was the only thing she ever imagined being “when she grew up”. Born and raised here in the Tucson desert, she graduated from the University of Arizona in 2006 (Bear Down!), and earned her veterinary degree from Washington State University in 2010 (Go COUGS!). Immediately after graduating, she returned home to Tucson, where she has practiced small animal general medicine ever since.

She and her husband share their lives with their two daughters, and of course a handful of pets that bring them so much joy. She is thoroughly enjoying this season of life in watching her kids flourish in their activities, hobbies, and school- though it means playing “taxi-mom” much of the time. Dr. Carpenter is also extremely crafty- and spends any spare moment in her latest favorite hobby- making fun earrings. She also thoroughly loves to travel with her family and soaking up the memories of fun experiences.

After more than 15 years in clinical practice, she felt called to expand the way she supports pets and their families. While continuing to practice part-time, she also owns Paws in the Sunset In-home Pet Euthanasia, to offer families the option of saying goodbye at home. Helping a pet pass peacefully is one of the greatest gifts of this profession, and her hope is to provide a final moment filled with tranquility, dignity, and love—in the place they know best.

Shelbi

Costumer Service Representative, CSR

Shelbi brings more than 14 years of experience to our team, beginning her career after graduating from Carrington College as a certified veterinary assistant. Her lifelong passion for animals started at the age of 3, and that same heart extends into her advocacy for Childhood Cancer Awareness.

As the forefront of our practice, Shelbi sets the tone the moment clients walk through the door. Her exceptional veterinary reception skills and knowledge make her the steady, welcoming presence every pet parent relies on. She anticipates needs, communicates with clarity and warmth, and ensures every client and patient receives the best possible care from start to finish.

When she’s not supporting our team and families at the clinic, Shelbi loves spending time with her friends and family

He has developed strong skills in patient handling, monitoring, and supporting clinical procedures, and is confident working in a fast-paced environment. Alex is committed to continuing to grow his knowledge and contribute meaningfully to both patient care and the team.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys playing guitar, video games, and watching anime. He has always had a strong connection to animals, which led him into the veterinary field. At home, he has an almost four-year-old domestic short hair cat named Shio, who he loves and who always keeps things entertaining.

Oracle Road Pet Clinic was founded in 2010 by Dr. Alan Nuradin in Oro Valley near the Home Depot shopping center. As the practice grew, we moved in 2015 to our current location at Oracle Road and Las Lomitas Road. After many years of dedicated service to our community, Dr. Nuradin has retired, and we wish him the very best.
As we begin a new chapter, our clinic has adopted a new name , Oracle 77 Pet Clinic and we’re excited to continue serving pets and their families under the leadership of our new veterinarian, Dr. Swenson.
